Privacy policy

This policy explains how HireCheck ("we", "us") handles personal data when you visit hirecheck.co.uk, use our screening platform, or go through a check as a candidate.

Who we are

HireCheck is a UK employment screening platform. For privacy questions, contact hello@hirecheck.co.uk.

Data we process

  • Website visitors: standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested). This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies.
  • Employer users: account details, screening requests, and platform activity needed to provide the service.
  • Candidates: the information required for the checks an employer requests, identity documents, right-to-work evidence, employment and education history, references, and check results, always collected with clear notice and consent in the screening flow.

How and why we use it

We process candidate data as a processor on behalf of the employer running the check, under UK GDPR. Lawful bases are established by the employer and documented in the platform, and candidates see what is being checked and why before anything runs. We use employer account data to operate, secure and improve the service.

Retention and security

Check data is retained according to the employer's configured retention policy and applicable law, then deleted. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is role-based and logged, and every report carries a full audit trail.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of your personal data, and object to processing. Candidates can exercise rights via the employer that requested the check or directly at hello@hirecheck.co.uk. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
